“Estimated 9,000 to 12,000 at the pageant!”

“Best pageant ever”

“Just like the old days”

“Largest pageant I can remember”

“Outstanding and amazing success”

“Herculean effort”

“Santa Sleigh was absolutely fantastic”

These are just a very small sample of the hundreds of compliments the committee have received.

We had five months, starting with nothing, to produce a Christmas Pageant for our community.

We asked for help, and the Local Hills Community and beyond came to our aid, and gave willingly.

Most of all you trusted us, and we thank you for that. A new committee was convened and were determined to give it their best shot.

We had anticipated around 4,000 to 5,000 people would come to the return of our traditional pageant. The last one was 2018. We all worked around the clock, right up until just minutes before the pageant, to make sure we delivered the best pageant that could be produced with just a few months notice.

No-one could have predicted the massive sea of 9,000 plus people that consumed the entire main street on the 23rd of December 2024.

There were people from all over the state, 8 to 10 deep, watching the large variety of floats, bands, dancers, musicians, clowns, elves, community groups, dogs, ponies, schools, and emergency services vehicles, proudly displaying their talents, abilities, businesses, creativity and decorations.

There were massive numbers of people in the main street, sitting, talking, laughing, cheering, drawing, and singing out “Merry Christmas”.

Our Hall of Fame inductee, Mr Des Stanbury, was a huge hit with the public. So was Mrs Claus and the most important participant, Santa Claus. His cave was very busy, listening to requests until around 10.00pm.

We breathed a sigh of relief and declared the 23 December Lobethal Pageant for 2024 an outstanding success.

The committee is now going to have a very well earned rest.

Soon we will be able to post some photos and videos of the pageant, as they become available.

We will announce the winners of the float competition as soon as possible, and these prizes will be given out at our AGM, the date of which is yet to be determined.

If the community support us again like they did this year, there will definitely be a 2025 Pageant, that will be every bit as good as 2024 and maybe even better.

So from all of us on the Committee, to all of the Lobethal Township and surrounding Hills District Township’s, our Foodstall holders, the amazing Flotilla of Floats and our most generous Sponsors,

a massive THANK YOU!
